Katrina Kaif: The Award Awe!

Kats who is normally very reserved in her comments did show that she was made of sterner stuff when she answered that it felt good to be nominated but then to receive an Award was not written in her list of priorities, as in the past too she has been nominated but the Award was given to some other actress. But this time she boldly insisted that she would like to give herself an Award as she was sure others would not do so.

Kats also went on to say that Salman Khan who was in the industry for the last 20 years had not got a single Award and perhaps she was following his footsteps that even though they deserved Awards it was always given to some other Star. Kats jokingly commented that Salman and she should be getting special Awards for not getting any Awards till date.

All this took place in Mumbai where Kats was called to announce the Awards which are to take place in Yash Raj Studios on the 27th of February. Katrina is to perform on many of her hit songs for the Awards night and has begun her practice sessions.

Well the other nominations for the category along with Katrina are strong contenders like Kareena Kapoor 3 Idiots, Priyanka Chopra for ‘Kaminey’, and Deepika Padukone for ‘Love Aaj Kal’etc So with a tough competition from her contemporaries it remains to be seen if Kats wish to win an Award is fulfilled or not, but till then our fingers are crossed for her.

Salman has inspired me: Katrina

Mumbai: On Wednesday evening we caught the very candid Katrina Kaif announcing the much awaited night of the year – the 55th Filmfare Awards to be held on the February 27. Katrina is nominated in the best actress category for her film New York, but we couldn't help but ask Kat who she thought was the most deserving performer of the year.

I think I would chose Priyanka Chopra from Kaminey or Vidya for Paa, but can I choose myself,” asked Katrina.

Considering Katrina has never won the best actress award, how does she comfort herself in the face of fierce competition?

Katrina says, "Salman has inspired me, work for 20 years give hits and don’t win awards!! Everyone has a different career, I'm not trying to emulate anyone. If I deserve an award I'll get it. I enjoy the movies I'm a part of. I'm happy where I am."

The bollywood diva is looking at the brighter side too.

"There's a new category for people who have never won awards... It'll go to me and Salman," hopes Kat.

Bollywood’s Katrina Kaif Says No Kiss Kiss

The buzz from Bollywood today involves superstar Katrina Kaif’s supposed refusal to do onscreen scenes that involve kissing or wearing revealing clothing. The long and short of her new acting mantra? “No kissy, no bikini shots.” Kaif has reportedly shunned the idea of doing scenes which she feels are uncomfortable. In fact, based on all the stories coming out today, she always has felt bad about being asked to do such scenes. This could be the best or worst PR movie ever in Bollywood if reports are true.

Katrina revealed she never liked doing such revealing or intimate scenes in the first place, but she is going to rectify her mistakes in the past, and is refusing to give in to pressures any more. One source suggests that Katrina told director/producer Tarun Mansukhani of her decision while making Dostana Part Two.

Apparently, directors and producers have basically tried to force Kaif to perform such scenes by suggesting the script or story line demanded them. Kaif says this will no longer work. Many critics suggest Kaif’s stand on the issue may not be a wise one no matter how successful she has become.

Other actresses are ready to do just about anything to get a part, so Katrina is putting herself in a little bit of a compromised position in the long run. Still, she has to be respected for taking a stand on her own artistic license an interpretation. At least if these reports are true. The beautiful actress is maybe one of the only artists in Bollywood who could pull such an act off. Leaving more to the imagination is a good thing really. Many fine actresses, in Hollwood for instance, have taken their personas to the next level in such a way. Of course refusing kissing is a lot more limiting than refusing nudity or love scenes in general.

Katrina just accepted an award for her contributions to cinema from the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India. She revealed a little more of her personal mantra to fans and critics alike in speaking about “self belief” as a key to life success. Katrina reportedly made the following statement to reporters in New Delhi:

“I think everyone wants to make the best of the opportunities you get in life. Everyone has a special place in the world and I think self-belief is the most important thing which keeps you going so you should never lose it.”

Katrina Kaif is Bollywood’s most famous actress obviously. Leading can be a difficult task for any celebrity or official as we all now. Many of Katrina’s fans and associates will obviously appreciate her position on these issues. Confidence after all, come from knowing one is doing the right thing. The bottom line on the PR end of things is, if fans support her decision she is a genius. Otherwise?

Katrina Kaif keen to win National Award

Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti isn’t in the news only because of the chemistry between the lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Those on the sets of this political thriller in Bhopal say that the film is also special to Kat not only because she is the only female protagonist; she is also hoping the film will get her a National Award. 

A source on the sets says, “Katrina is very keen on winning a National Award. She doesn’t seem to hanker after the rest of the awards, but yes, on the sets she often mentioned that winning the National Award would mean the world to her.” 

An insider adds that, in her own clever way, Katrina has told filmmaker Prakash Jha to try and give her a couple of dramatic scenes with the twice National Award-winning actor Ajay Devgan (Zakhm, The Legend of Bhagat Singh). And she is hopeful that Raajneeti is her big ticket to India’s biggest acting honour. 

Katrina, of course says, “The script of the film is exactly as it was. And I certainly don’t think I’m winning the National Award.” 

However, it is said that the actress even volunteered a price-cut but is keen that she is able to match histrionics with the other award-winning actors... and has said this to Prakash Jha in so many words.

May be Katrina wants to shed one of her hot image to a sober role. More over a good way to earn public attention to a greater extent. Alternatively, you can say that it may be the influence of her character that Katrina plays in ‘Rajneeti’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor that may have inspired her into social issues.

She will feature in three separate music videos with kids. As Salman Khan genuinely contribues for downtrodden children which public apprehends well, Katrina into the stream line is quite evident, she states “I love working with kids. So it’d be a special treat hopefully for the kids as well.”

It is completely unusual Katrina Kaif in small screen, which she didn’t attempt to in the beginging of her career. Comparison with Katrina Kaif is insulting, fumes Kareena!!!

While Zarine Khan finds it flattering to be compared with Katrina, Kareena Kapoor is fuming with the reports of her comparisons to Kaif. A recent article in a B-town tabloid declared the both actresses are on par and their films in 2010 which will prove who will come out on the top.

A source close to the actress confirms the news and says, "Bebo has been around for years and she has done tons of performance-oriented films. Her body of work is different. How can you compare them?"

But the similarities between both the hotties are too many to be ignored. For starters they share their initials; both started with duds; they have the same endorsement manager; they share a PR manager. As far as the physical attributes go, again, both are tall, fair and beautiful.

Katrina Kaif out after surgery

Actress Katrina Kaif was discharged Thursday from Breach Candy Hospital after a minor surgery. CEO-general Vijay Krishna confirmed the surgery but did not say what it was for.

“She is doing fine,” Krishna said. Sources said the surgery was for endometriosis, a condition affecting the uterus, but the actress’s spokesperson said the “small surgical procedure” was for low haemoglobin levels. Kaif, now resting at home, had undergone several tests over the past three weeks as doctors struggled to figure out what was wrong.

It was for the film De Dana Dan’s promotion that the rain song between Katrina Saif and Akshay Kumar was shown in all the promos and music videos of the film. The sizzling chemistry between the two just couldn’t be missed by one and all. During the first week it was evident that most of them were going to watch the film for the song itself.

Is Katrina Kaif married to Indore MLA Ramesh Mendola?

Indore: In real life her marital status may still be single, but a fake certificate prepared in Indore suggests that Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif is the better half of local BJP MLA, Ramesh Mendola.
A marriage certificate approved by Indore Municipal Corporation claims that the 24-year-old actress married the local MLA on December 2, 2008 and got the nuptial registered with the civic body on December 11 the same year.
"The marriage certificate is totally fake and was not issued by the municipal body. It must be an act of some mischievous persons," IMC marriage registrar Dr Natwar Sarda told reporters.
"It appears that somebody first scanned the IMC marriage certificate and then with the help of some software showed the bollywood actress and MLA as husband and wife," Sarda said.

Katrina distributes Rs 5 lakh hard cash among crew members

Mumbai, March 20: Besides his infamous wild antics and strange rage, Salman Khan is even famous for his large heartiness. The actor who is known to go all out for friends and family has had a huge influence on his ladylove Katrina Kaif. And no, Katrina is not going bashing people.

Apparently, Katrina is much too smitten by Sallu’s humane gestures of love. The actress in a rarest of rare gestures surprised everyone as she went to distribute Rs 5 lakh of hard cash among unit members of her upcoming film ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Katha’. 

According to our sources, on the last day of the shoot Katrina distributed Rs 5 lakh among crewmembers, which included technicians, make-up artists and spot boys. 

The lissome beauty for some unknown reason was in an exceptionally happy and giving mood. Bowled by the good job the unit had pulled of for the flick, topped with her good mood, the actress decided to give out big bucks to the unit.

Sources tell us that after wrapping up the schedule, Katrina went in her vanity van and came out carrying lugs of money.

Confirming the news, a news daily even quoted a source as saying, "Katrina went into her vanity van and came out with bundles of notes and started distributing them among the unit members. She was in a happy mood and wanted to share her happiness with everyone."

Well going by the bomb she has always been for her flicks, we are sure Rs 5 lakh won’t make much of difference to the this generous lady.

Katrina Kaif in a serious mode

After a slew of out and out comedies like Namastey London, Partner and Singh Is Kinng, Katrina Kaif is now working on two "difficult" films - Prakash Jha's political drama Rajneeti and Rajkumar Santoshi's romantic comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani- and the actress wants to devote extra time and thought to the projects.

"This year I would like to allocate time to big films. The kind of films I am doing - Rajneeti and Ajab Prem... are a little more difficult. They need time and also a little more thought process," said Katrina. The films are slated for release this year. 

In Ajab Prem... Katrina shares screen space with Ranbir Kapoor and Upen Patel, while in Rajneeti she stars alongside a bevy of actors including Ranbir, Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal, Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpai. 

Katrina says that Santoshi's dedication and "knack for making his actors win national awards" is something that makes her want to work hard for his film. 

"Ajab Prem... is a very different film. Raj-ji is a taskmaster on the sets and the results of that are visible. I need to dedicate enough time and attention to this film because I think the movie is going to be very special and very important for me. It's nothing like I have done before," said the 24-year-old actress. 

Katrina shares similar sentiments for Jha, who has helmed films like Gangajal and Apaharan in the past. 

"Prakash Jha is highly intelligent and highly interested in his project. A film like Rajneeti is not something where I can just jump and say - 'Sir, myhair is done, my costume is done and I'm ready', something I can do in most films that are comic capers. 

"For films like his, one has to research clothes. I can't decide on my own what I want to wear or what I would prefer. I have to follow the character I am playing. Rajneeti is a very grounded, a very rooted film, and so I am going to be dedicating a little more time as the project requires it," she said.

In Rajneeti Katrina sports a simple and de-glamourised look in a crisp cotton sari and with her hair neatly tied in a ponytail. Though the look bears resemblance to Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi, the director has denied that her role has anything to do with the senior leader. 

Though Katrina has mostly starred in comedies like Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng (Vipul Shah), Partner (David Dhawan) and Welcome(Anees Bazmee) in her over five-year-old carrer, she says she "might not be doing another comedy, fun, masti film very dedicatedly any time soon". 

Apart from Rajneeti and Ajab Prem..., Katrina has Yash Raj Film's New York, Anthony D'Souza's Blue and also a two-film deal with production house UTV in her kitty.
